Eclipse Bay Jayne Ann Krentz Books
I have forced myself to read up to 55% of this book but cannot bring myself to finish it, not when there are so many better books on my Kindle waiting to be read. I don't know if this is an early piece by Ms Krentz, but it reads that way. I usually enjoy her books, under all her pseudonyms, but this one is annoying. Essentially there are two families, the Hartes and the Madisons, and their so called feud is about as uninteresting as the two main characters in this book. One would think they are the Montagues and Capulets, the way their family names are continuously being invoked. Frankly I could not keep either character straight despite the fact they continuously refer to themselves and each other as "typical of the Hartes" and "of course, you're a Madison, they all do that." etc. etc. She paints, he is a captain of industry. They fight, have sex, and you know they will end up marrying, but, unfortunately not take the poison at the end. Just have a lot of little Harte-Madison kids, or maybe Madison-Harte. Boring.

Eclipse Bay Jayne Ann Krentz Books Reviews
i haven't read the first book in this series, so this is based entirely on this book. i loved it. there is a feud between the madisons and hartes that go way back. there is a wedding between the two families so now they are joined because of that. lillian harte owns a matchmaking business and gabe madison insists on becoming a client. she has set him up 5 times and nothing came of it. she closes her business and moves home to eclipse bay and the next thing she knows gabe is showing up on her doorstep demanding she fulfill the contract they signed. this is a very funny book and gabe is relentless about the contract driving lillian crazy. so they have at it and the feud is on between two different members of the families.
I enjoy this series. The characters are quirky, funny and the romance while obvious was full of challenges and conflict. I especially enjoyed the sudden reappearance of Arizona Snow. It felt like finding an old friend.
I would love to see the paintings and understood the questioning of ending one job to devote full time to being an artist. The solutions to the meddling by the families were fun and logical and tied things together. Rereading this book was just fun for me.
I thought I was getting another one of JAK's paranormal romances, but was disappointed when it turned out to be a regular romance. (Not knocking the writer or the genre, just not what I normally read!) After getting over the disappointment, I enjoyed this book, it was a fun read. Loved the fact that Arizona Snow was part of the story. She transcends the paranormal and the mundane story lines, and I liked that. Although, I have to admit, I kept expecting Fallon Jones to at least put in a phone call! If you like JAK, go for it, it's a good read. If you like regular romances with a bit of mystery-solving, another good choice. If you're looking for paranormal, well, keep looking.
Dawn in Eclipse Bay
Unfortunately, I didn’t read the first in the series before I picked this one up. Other than missing some family dynamics, it reads as a stand-alone.
Lilian Harte closes her lucrative dating service to be a full-time painter. Her family is appalled. They want her to step in to run the family business. Gabe Madison is a self-made workaholic who created an empire. He patterned his entire life after the Harte family and their empire. He’s ready to settle down and wants Lilian. But can she believe he wants her and not her company?
I listened to this on audio and enjoyed it. Easy to follow along.
I had read this book years ago and wanted to read something fun and lighthearted with a happy ending while I waited for my husband to finish his golfing with his buddies in SC. I was not disappointed. Made the trip enjoyable.
If you want a book with suspense, romance, mystery, and a brilliant dog, this is the book for you. It is the first book of a trilogy.
The Madisons and the Hartes have been at odds for three generations, but the evening when Hannah Harte's date dumped her on the beach when she wouldn't have sex with him, and Rafe Madison's date had dumped him because he was ticked off because she was a long way from faithful, Hannah was relieved that she didn't have to walk home in the dark by herself! They talked for a while, argued some about what they intended to do about the future and finally he walked her home. The next morning she woke up to voices in the kitchen, went downstairs, and her father told her that the police were told that Rafe had spent 2 hours on the beach with her last night! Rafe's girl friend, Kaitlin, had been killed by falling off a cliff, and Rafe was accused of murder. When she replied that they had been together, everyone was shocked, but Rafe was cleared.
Years later, Hannah's great-aunt left her very large mansion to Rafe and Hannah! (The brilliant dog belongs to Hannah.) Hannah offers to buy Rafe out as she wants to open a bed and breakfast! He refuses, as he wants to open a restaurant!
Kaitlin's brother, Dell, still believes that Rafe killed her and is infuriated that Rafe has come back to town.
Rafe has become a Cordon Bleu chef, and Hannah is able to manage an inn, so they decide to work together, somewhat reluctantly. They had to have some work done on the house, and the two brothers working on it talked about a discovery they had made in a house years ago, about the time that Kaitlin died. Pictures of a man, currently running for office, in ladies clothes. Kaitlin had told her brother that she was leaving town, and had a plan in mind to get some money. Blackmail?
I don't want to go further, but this book is fun to read and I read it in one session! I enjoyed it thoroughly.
